Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts
2.0

This book was really not what I was expecting from the description. Not very much happens throughout it and most of the story is taken up by lengthy descriptions of how the two main characters are feeling. It can easily be summed up by: Livvie is kidnapped, trained and kind of escapes. The rest of it is all what Livvie and Caleb are thinking about each other, which in both cases is not what they "should" be thinking or feeling. In theory it seems like it should be a book about Stockholm Syndrome, except it doesn't quite work because of Caleb's feelings towards Livvie. Towards the end, the way the book is written (demonising Livvie's Mother and old life) it seems like the author is trying to get you to want Livvie and Caleb to get into a relationship. This would a. be impossible and b. not be healthy for either of them.
There is no actual vanilla-type sex in this book because Caleb needs Livvie to remain a virgin for his plan to work, but there are other "intimate" moments and a lot of violence.
I'm not sure how interested I'd be in reading the sequel, especially having read the preview at the end of this book, it doesn't seem to take the route that the first book sets up. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
