The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet by Jeff Goodell

challenging dark informative reflective sad tense medium-paced

4.5

One day while I was screaming about how the "TICKS ARE GOING TO KILL US ALL," knowing my tendency towards catastrophizing, my partner whispered, "are you should you should be reading this book?" Haha, which honestly fair.  But also yes, I should be reading this book!  And babes, while the book is good, the future is bleak.  We really need to get our ish together or we, and the generations after us, are truly and completely fucked.  Heat really is a silent killer and it's only going to get worse and worse as we dump more CO2 in the air.  The melting permafrost has me terrified as it may unearth the virus that kills us all in the end.

I appreciate Goodell leaves us with some hope and briefly profiles some climate change warriors out there.  Even as lovely as that is, I still have so much unease.
