The world the author wants to build is so great, it's a shame it was shoved into 300 pages. There are plenty of times it would have benefited from more exposition or more world building. Characters were well written and fleshed, but also suffered slightly from the shortness of the book. It seemed all character development was logical but incredibly rushed.
