This book is a mess.
Sometimes it wants to be a YA fantasy novel with a queer angle, sometimes it wants to be a mystery, a whodunit story, sometimes a dungeon crawler, sometimes just fantasy and in some moments kind of romance and some other moments it wants to be a comedic novel. In my opinion, it fails in most of these attempts. The only good part is closer to the end, and it’s neither of what the author tried to do before; it’s the action. I think it’s safe to assume that the author has a good talent for writing action, which doesn’t seem to be her intent. Either way, there are some mysterious elements that I enjoyed, but that’s mostly it. Either way, I think this would make a fun vacation read.
