Mourn Not Your Dead by Deborah Crombie

4.0

Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and Sergeant Gemma James have a difficult murder to solve. Division Commander Alastair Gilbert killed in a brutal manner, very few people seem to be grieving over his sudden and unexpected death. Infamous for his cruelty he wasn't liked by most of the townspeople which made the investigators job highly complicated.

I liked this book. Different from most of the heavy romance books I've been reading these days.
Deborah Crombie has finely written Mourn Not Your Dead with intelligent characters and a very good storyline. Suspense was the most important part, you couldn't guess who was the culprit and who was innocent till the very last page. Not what we call a nailbiting finish or something, but a decent story and I enjoyed it very much.
I also liked the chemisty between the two main characters, Superintendent Duncan and his detective Sergeant Gemma. There was no obvious romance between them, but there was an air of love, which didn't kill the main story. Quite intelligent writing and a very good plot, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading crime and suspense.
