Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy
by Grace Ellis, ND Stevenson, Shannon Watters
My 8 y/o and I both really loved this and laughed out loud reading it together. It's a quirky story of a group of girls at summer camp and their bizarre, funny adventures. I especially appreciate that this series challenges gender stereotypes, represents diverse body types and has LGBTQ+ / non binary characters.
I recently dug it back up to read with my younger daughter, and because the author, Noelle Stevenson is involved in "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" which is also fabulous for many of the same reasons we loved Lumberjanes - lots of body diversity and good representation of LGBTQ+ characters (and a much more compelling plot than the original that I loved!)
I need to go buy the rest of this series now!
