Palestinian Walks: Forays Into a Vanishing Landscape by Raja Shehadeh

emotional reflective medium-paced

5.0

Through a mix of memoir and history, Raja Shehadeh takes you over the hills of Palestine to document his love for the nature of the area, his peoples' deep connection and history with the land, and to show how the land is being slowly destroyed by the Israeli occupation. It's beautifully written and it's really moving to see how much he loves the hills around Ramallah. This book also serves as an example for how the destruction of Palestine has not just been at the hands of bombs, and has also been a slow moving ecological, cultural, and physical destructive force for decades.
