Myth and Thought Among the Greeks by Jean-Pierre Vernant

5.0

Vernant, the madman, he's done it again! Insightful and intriguing structuralist takes on the shift from myth (e.g. Hesiod) to philosophy (e.g. Plato, Cleisthenes, Anaximander) and its possible reflections + resonations in political, social, and scientific ideas. "Hesiod's Myth of the Races: A Reassessment" slapped even harder than "Oedipus Without the Complex", multiple gasps were evoked and much tea was spilt!, as they say.
