For Twice In My Life by Annette Christie

3.0

Ok, I love reading romances and of course they all have some unrealistic things in them (like a guy being incredibly romantic and sweet) but this one felt a bit more unrealistic than the other ones. Layla’s boyfriend Ian breaks up with her and weeks later he gets into an accident and forgets breaking up with her so when the hospital calls her she plays along. His brother, who Ian has a rocky relationship with, moves in with Ian a few weeks after the incident and reveals to Layla that he knows that Ian dumped her. Matt (Ian’s brother) a former tv writer ends up helping out Layla at her job by agreeing to be the playwright for her theatres production.
Overall it was supposed to be an easy read but frankly it took me quite a bit to actually get through it. Layla frustrated me many times throughout the book, enough to get me to stop reading quite a few times.

“When insomnia is your only friend and, frankly, he’s a bit of dick”
“Because when someone broke up with you, their family usually broke up with you too.”
“Whatever he wanted from her, he could have it.”
“We’re doing this for love, how wrong could it be?”
“Sometimes our mistakes are what lead us to the right path.”
