Adored this book! I learned from this book and it gave me all the feels. I was a little disappointed that one of the twists was that the school her dad sent her to is not a finishing school but a Musketeer school. I feel like a lot of YA, female led books are centered on special schools where they learn how to be both desirable and badass. I somewhat wished to know what would’ve unfolded if she had followed her original plan and made friends along the way. However, the friendships and the representation felt real (not forced) and we maybe only got a couple of cringey lines about “but I underestimated you because YOU’RE A GIRL” which normally consume these books. It was a joy to read and I definitely want more books like this!
