The big house was still there, but the old Maze, the windbreaks, and the barns were gone. Even the Osage-orange hedge was gone.

A hard end to the series, for certain.

This was not how I thought that it was going to end, and it was an incredibly hard read towards the end. A lot of the characters that you had really come to love ended up not being at all who you thought they were, and the people that you knew were bad ended up being even more evil than initially thought.

I still would recommend these books, for sure. They can be really hard to get through, especially knowing that many of the characters you will come to love and care for can't live forever. I don't think I'll reread this one, but the first two are definitely books that I will be coming back to.
