Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke

3.0

I do think I will continue this series and I do plan on reading other books by Attica Locke but I was hoping for more. I found Darren frustrating and, at times, he was unlikable.

The writing was well done and I found the racial tension realistic. However, it also took me out of the story a little bit. The “N” word was being thrown around and the town of Lark seemed stuck in the 50’s not 2016. Instead of trying to solve the case, which is my favorite part, I had to keep reminding myself that this was a work of fiction, even though the hate is real.

The mystery itself was interesting and their were some little things, I wasn’t expecting. Overall, this was, for me, a good introduction to the work of Attica Locke.
