The Tea Rose
by Jennifer Donnelly
The Tea Rose is a well-researched book that takes place in the London & New York City of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I enjoyed the storyline but found the endless string of coincidences & missed connections involving the main characters to be a bit much. It reminded me of some of Danielle Steel's efforts at writing historical novels although it's generally better written than anything by Ms. Steel.
I've now read #2 in the series (The Winter Rose and am waiting for #3 (The Tea Rose from the library. Don't know if this is a book series that I'll go back to re-read but I could recommend one or all of them for beach, airplane or general escape reading.
