Chain of Thorns
by Cassandra Clare
The final chapter in Clare's Last Hours trilogy and it did not disappoint. I love the themes of loyalty, trust and faithfulness that streams through these books and they were most evident in this one. Truly a testament to friendship - this book portrays examples that we all wish to not only receive, but also give. Yes, Love Conquers All, but in these books, Clare really illustrates all of the forms of love we have in our lives - family, friends, community, and of course, body and soul. Honestly, the love stories in this book are treated almost like side stories, with the main story being the love story of the Shadowhunter community at large. We all have trials and tribulations, challenges and heartbreak, but in the end love. conquers.
This book neatly closed the doors on this trilogy, but we readers know that the door will never be really closed to the Shadowhunter world as long as we have Cassie and her "pen". She has now created a new world for us to discover and learn and immerse ourselves in. "Sword Catcher" will introduce us to Castellene and the Ragpicker king and if it is even one iota of the creation of the Shadowhunter universe, it will be amazing and enchanting and consuming.
I know that Clare is not done with the Shadowhunter universe as there are so many more stories to be told and I am here for ALL of it!
