Dad and Pop: An Ode to Fathers and Stepfathers by Kelly Bennett, Paul Meisel

2.0

I feel like the author could have done so much more with this idea. They are different but they both love the girl. Got it. But there was no discussion of how she got two dads, or how she processed her feelings the whole time. The illustrations showed that she was old enough to take part in her mother's second wedding, so she didn't always have two fathers, and it takes most kids at least a little bit of time to warm up to the stepparent. I think that showing that would have made the story a lot more accessible to kids who are about to gain a stepparent or who are struggling with the appearance of a new parent.
