3.5-4 stars. Ok 3.7498898 meh maybe lol.
I am the minority, I do realize this, but I won’t pretend to like something just because everyone else does, sooo honesty feels good lol... I just didn’t read the same magical, profound story everyone else seemed to have read. The characters I found obnoxiously irritating, except for Zara and Estelle. Estelles “secret” was a balm for this (apparently) cold heart of mine. I know it’s supposed to be goofy or “quirky” but I couldn’t get into it. I almost quit half way through. Instead I soldiered on. BUT what brought me to tears was Zara’s ending, the kindness shown all around and, well, the entire last bit of the book redeemed itself for me and the last page is just what we all need to hear I suppose.
