Guardians of the Louvre by Jirō Taniguchi

4.0

Taniguchi takes us on a fevered tour of the Louvre and art history. Various western artists are introduced and their affect on Japanese art and artists is highlighted. The Winged Victory of Samothrace plays the part of Muse as Taniguchi moves through art and time.
The final chapter is about the Louvre staff moving the collection to safety, just before the Nazi invasion of France. I learned a lot from this book and it was really interesting.
