I love this author and her way of writing suspense, but the romance in this one was a bit too contrived for me. Maybe it needed to be a longer book, but everything happened so fast, I was having a really hard time buying this relationship. I know this is a common trope in the romance genre, to put a couple through a traumatic experience together and have them fall in love immediately, but this was pushing it too much for my taste. I generally am not a fan of instalove, but sometimes the author can sell it and I can manage to suspend disbelief. Unfortunately, neither of those happened here. The characters individually are great, but as a couple, I was not feeling it. I would have preferred it if they simply expressed an interest to date and get to know each other, rather than
Spoilerdeclare love and move in together after less than a week of knowing each other.

On the bright side, it's nice to see an update on Nate (who we met briefly in the 4th book in the series and in the novella about Brad and Jenna) and Leah was a badass, super intelligent and confident FMC, not unlike all the other FMCs in this series. This is also probably my first time, or at least one of the few times, where I read about a Jewish MC in romance, which was a really nice change.
