I couldn't get past the first thirty-five pages, and it's a miracle I got that far. I'm trying to work out what I hated so much about this book, but it's not easy. Some authors do the confessional style stuff really well, but Aherne doesn't seem to be one of them. The digressions are boring, the narrator is unengaging, and there's a whole lot of space-filling going on.
