Believing the Lie by Elizabeth George
1.0

Very disappointing. I enjoy the DI Linley series, but this was just plain bad. Whisper thin plot; not a single believable motive for what anyone did; and extremely clumsy handling of incidental characters. The re-occurring character Deborah behaved completely unrealistically and if I'd not read other books in the series, I would think she was a complete un-self aware idiot. There was absolutely no justification for her horrific behaviour. And on top of that, the entire book felt very homophobic and transphobic.

This series is usually a good, entertaining read - but this book was just bad.
