Empire of the Vampire
By: Jay Kristoff

In an interview, Jay Kristoff was asked to name the first 5 words he thinks of when he thinks of EOTV. He responded:

Heavy. Bloody. Broody. Pretty. Smutty.

I couldn’t agree more.
Where to begin without sounding too cliché? How come no one told me this ended in a heart wrenching cliffhanger? How was the writing so hauntingly disturbing and beautiful at the same time? Why does no one talk about Gabriel!? When does book 2 come out!?

I had seen so many recommendations for this book, and it knew it was about vampires so I didn’t look into anything else about the book before cracking it open. I fell in love immediately with the dark gray world that was described and the achingly beautiful villain, with silver tattooed into his body, being held in a cell. I wasn’t prepared for the soul throbbing and desperation this book would cause. Nor was I prepared to fall completely in love with another book boyfriend.
Gabriel is rude, rash, violent, faithless, sexy, caring, tattooed with silver but made of gold. The hold this book is going to have on me until book 2 comes out will be relentless.

Gabriel De Leon is a Silversaint and a halfbreed. Born a bastard to a human mother and a vampire father that he never met, he joins a holy brotherhood to fight against Vampires and the plight they have put on earth.
The sun has not risen in 27 years and Gabriel has been fighting for 15 of them. He’s the last Silversaint and has finally been captured by his enemies. Instead of the torture he knows will come eventually, a historian sits with him and asks him to tell his story.
