The post memoir/diary format is definitely unique and unfolds our main character, Constanta's emotions as she relives her story with her master, maker, immortal husband. Her singular point of view, her flawed viewpoint and discovery of the characters around her works. Her reflection of how little education she had receive in her early life is well reflected in her writing. At the same time, her personal experienced knowledge and blind caughtion and blind reliance shines at the forefront and how her master slowly broke this down. The side characters are discovered through caughtion and jealousy and then slowly she falls in love with them as their story in her life unfolds.
Constanta is a maternal character in an abusive relationship. The finding of her strength to stand up took much support, beckoning, and risks with a pay off of regaining her wings and returning to the world.
