The Tailor by Leigh Bardugo

2.0

I read this after the ending of the second book and even knowing the fate that awaits her, I still can’t find it in my heart to like her. Still, what the Darkling did to her was horrific and truly makes you believe that there are worse things than death, and yes I get that humans can be very selfish at times and she only wanted someplace to belong. The queen is a bitch too but Genya was suffering, she shouldn’t have let Alina suffer along with her. They both needed a friend, and Genya could’ve given herself that. Even the Darkling gave her the freedom to do what she pleases with the letters and she still choose herself ..... so? Her fate was too too too harsh and my heart constricted reading that scene, but actions and selfishness do have their consequences. She had so many opportunities to go with Alina but she always chose not to.
