Loved the story and the themes in this book. The artworks was peak fantasy also. I really enjoyed it overall.
It did feel a little bit rushed to me but as a middle grade graphic novel that might be on and the storyline is great. It honestly could have worked as a ya if it was a bit longer and more complex or even an adult with it it was a little darker.
My only real complaint is that this is marketed as LGBTQ+ and I completely get why as it definitely has themes that dance around gender identity but it is dancing around it. Is day I could see the point and hope of that helping it fall under the ban radar but honestly the witchcraft in the book is probably not gonna endear anyone who pages book banking. If be great in my opinion if the b characters had some slightly more overt questioning of their genders and not just their gender roles.
Overall it's a slightly dark but still whimsical story that would appeal to kids who love fantasy and want to question the gender-status-quo.
