This is a very popular book in the thriller genre, I see it recommended a lot - investigative journalist Kate returns home after 11 years of being gone and being part of a cult.
An overhyped book of Lucinda Berry. Her writing style is awesome, and she is a master storyteller, but I found myself getting a bit bored at the parts where it wasn’t showing and describing how an everyday person is turned into a cult member and how that brainwashing is affecting their every thought, behavior, and even can splinter parts of the personality.

I thought I’d give this one 5 stars, but as I was thinking about different aspects, I realized, it might not be appropriate. I wasn’t happy with the ending, I think it was not dramatic enough for the story, but those who like nice bundle with a bow on top endings might enjoy it. Some of the characters (that were NOT involved in the cult and are supposed to be the baseline for normalcy) just had stupid and outright annoying actions and made no sense in some situations. Hence the 4 stars.
