I liked the little bit at the end where the author explained her choice of time period in this novel. I actually cried reading through it. This collective trauma is still so fresh it was definitely a challenge to be reminded of it throughout this story. I was nervous starting this book because pretty girls was so gruesome, but this one, though still dealing with very disturbing subject matter, had significantly less gore. It was a good story, but didn’t have many shocker moments or twists.
