Hate Story by Nicole Williams
***FULL REVEW***
4 I HATE YOU CROWNS
I love a good hate to love romance. The resistance, which is futile, the unmistakable and unavoidable chemistry, and the eventual acquiescence to their feelings always creates a fun and entertaining read, and Hate Story by Nicole Williams is perfection in this regard.
Part of the reason this book is so much fun is the characters and their dynamics. Nina and Max are planning an arranged marriage with mutual benefits, money and a green card. From the beginning, there is an attraction, but both try to avoid and ignore it. Nina has been abandoned a lot in her life, and, as a result, she doesn’t trust most people and expects them to leave her. This causes her to build huge walls around her heart. Even with these walls, it is clear that she is still a kind and caring person. Additionally, she is fiercely independent and challenges Max at every turn. Opposite of Nina, is Max with his seemingly laid-back and carefree attitude towards life. He is attractive, intelligent, kind, and protective, really everything a good hero should be. Max rushes to the defense of people he cares about, and with each protective moment with Nina the reader falls in love with his character a little more. Similar to Nina, Max has also been burned in the past by another love, which makes him also hesitant to dive into another relationship. Unlike Nina, though, Max doesn’t falter once he decides what he wants.
The easy banter and fun energy between the two characters will engage readers from the opening pages. Their resistance, their slow progression towards a real relationship, and the eventual fall-out and resolution is all entertaining and fun. This story had my laughing and smiling until the very last page turned.
Nicole Williams’s Hate Story is light, delightful, and fun. With great chemistry, lovely characters, and a well-told story, this one should definitely be sitting on your bookshelf.
