The Spring Girls by Anna Todd
1.0

Okay I wanted to love this but it’s a huge no for me. I LOVE retellings and was super excited about a retelling of Little Women. I was so let down by this, it’s not a retelling, it’s fan fiction.
So first off, this whole thing revolves around the Springs, an army family. The father is deployed, which is reminiscent of Mr. March in Little Women... however it is clear this author used Army Wives, the TV show, as her only form of research. I’m an army wife and all of the inaccuracies drove me insane. I won’t list them because it’s like a page of notes on my iPhone.
I did like how the story was told through Jo, Meg and Beth’s views. However, Amy was more of a nuisance plot device than an actual character. The plot itself was so different than the book, which made it feel more like fan fiction than anything resembling a retelling. It wasn’t a terrible plot, I guess? It felt unfinished though.
Anyway, I can’t say I recommend this one.
