The Veiled Kingdom by Holly Renee
4.0
The princess and the rebel
Nyra has been on the run since the rebels raided the palace, escaping her father’s brutality for the one thing she cannot help, her lack of magic.
Dacre is the son of the leader of the rebellion. He will take the helm one day and gods willing their success, become the new King.
When Nyra is caught stealing, she is thrown in dungeons beneath the palace. Lucky for her, she is in the same cell as Wren, Dacer’s sister. Unlucky for her, she is now knee deep in a rebellion she wants no part of and drawn to the one man who would end her in a second if he found out who she really was.
There is definitely some enemies to undeniable attraction going on in this story and though it didn’t pick up until more than half way through, I really enjoyed it. Nyra is feisty, and though she is keeping too many secrets to count, she is only trying her best to survive. I love how she dishes as best as she takes it and never wavers.
Dacre has a mouth on him and I love it! He may not trust Nyra as far as he can throw her, but he is unabashed about what he wants and HOW he wants it.
With the latter half of the book picking up and starting to get into the action, I am excited to jump into the next one!
