Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
3.25
This was my first time reading a murder mystery. The narration tone/voice that the writer used would have been better suited as an audiobook choice for me; at times I was quite confused by Ern’s side conversations/narrations. The plot wasn’t terrible, and although I hadn’t figured out all of the details, I did figure out the main murderer. I recognize that this genre is meant to lead you in all directions with dates, times, locations, and an unruly number of details, but at times I just found this extremely slow to read through and confusing to picture for myself… putting the book into “mark as DNF” territory. I’m glad to be able to say I finished this one, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a struggle at times!
Graphic: Medical content, Murder, and Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Child death, Infidelity, Suicide, Grief, Death of parent, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Addiction and Vomit
