The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country by Amanda Gorman

4.0

If the word ‘inspiring’ was made into a poem.

Giving this 4/5 stars but it’s more of a 4.5.
Absolutely stunning piece of writing + accompanying performance.

Amanda Gorman is truly an inspiration. As a fellow “young” (20) writer, seeing how much her words(work) can change not only:
1) The way people view democracy
2) The way democrats view art… #motomami

Did I already mention ‘inspiring’?

Truly believe this warrior of a woman will be part of the revolution of art appreciation I predict in a couple of years.

A 4.5 and not a 5, because it is not my fave poem of hers so far: just listened to “Black Daughter’s Pointillism” on the Kelly Clarkson show and sat there with my mouth open the whole time. (But also might be because I have ADHD and am very visual and hearing heavy for consuming art- thus why I always have to read my work out loud when editing)
