The writing of this book makes it clear it’s written for children, but the thoughtfulness of the plot is brilliant for all ages. Katniss is both exceedingly clever and endlessly clueless, but both are so understandable given the circumstances she was raised in and the one she finds herself in through the story. Peeta is and always will be one of my favorite male leads of a book, and I always forget between reads how funny he is. Reading this again after finishing Sunrise on the Reaping was such an eye opening experience, and I’m sure I’ll come back to it over and over.
