The Mermaid in the Basement by Gilbert Morris

2.0

Started out well, went off the rails with these weird sort of detached yet overly dramatic omniscient narratives about characters' emotions every once in a while that intruded into the plot. Just show, don't tell, okay? Then, the way the characters "solve" the mystery is more like, "Well, we're out of time so we'll have this sudden inspiration of who the killer is based on nothing whatsoever!" I've not read much Gilbert Morris, although he's prolific, so I don't know if this is an aberration or his common writing style due to his high output.
