Audio - What a heartbreaking, yet lovely story about a preteen's search for meaning and identity, through some severe trials.
Mostly-happily a quirky loner who loves her garden and is wickedly-smart but doesn't fit in at school (or anywhere, really), 12-year-old Willow Chance's world is turned upside down forever with the news of a family tragedy. Without extended family or a multigenerational friend network to catch her fall, Willow finds safety, comfort, and community - even 'family' - in places she might never have expected, and with people who mightn't have guessed they'd become so attached to this young genius.
Recommended for middle-school and up, this book treats big issues gently, and there isn't really any 'mature' content to speak of.
