The End of Eddy by Édouard Louis
2.0
The End of Eddy is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age novel set in a factory town in rural Northern France. The protagonist is a young gay man who grapples with the toxic masculinity of his schoolmates and family.
While I’m glad that Edouard Louis found success away from his hometown and is able to explore these painful themes, I did not particularly love the book. Many scenes and asides were repetitive, especially surprising in a book under 200 pages. And I disliked the especially spare prose in this context.
