I’ve been following Youngmi for a while so I was pretty sure I’d like this book but god, I was not ready. There is an unfiltered truthfulness in her writing that I rarely if ever find elsewhere. Her ability to write the most beautiful analogies I’ve ever read about life, and simultaneously reveal the ugliness of generational trauma and abuse takes an insane amount of talent and courage. This book has challenged my perspective on family ties & life and I know I’ll be thinking about it constantly. Thank you Youngmi for writing a book that I and many others will never forget.
