“Why forgive? Doesn’t that let Hitler off the hook for what he did?”

I do not read a lot of non-fiction, but I saw this book crop up a few times and thought I’d give it a go. I’ve read quite a few war based books but this one, a memoir, was quite different. I feel like I learned a lot. Eger is certainly a fascinating lady. She has lived many lives, and can certainly tell many a tale. I loved the way her book was written. At the beginning I found I had to lay the book down after each chapter, so many harrowing, unthinkable moments. She’s been through things I cannot even comprehend. I had to let my brain breathe at times. Towards the end, she digresses more into her work as a psychologist. Within her story she uses examples of people she’s worked with and how she helped them, but in return, how they helped her. A very interesting read from a true survivor.
