Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead

4.0

So when I finished this book I noticed my heart was beating fast, and I was upset. lol I guess I was so engrossed that my body reacted as if I were the one experiencing Eugenie's troubles. Of course she had troubles, what book is complete without fighting for your life, fighting with your boyfriend, and then steamy make up sex. The Thorn Queen is at war with the Rowan Queen because of the death of her son. His death in my opinion was well deserved, but I guess momma didn't agree. Dorian, her boyfriend, and The Oak King is allied with Eugenie against the Rowan Queen. I like Dorian, but I miss Kiyo, well I did...

Dorian shows his true colors when he sends Eugenie for the Iron Crown. She believes the difficult task of getting the crown shows her strength, and the crown itself will show her enemies she is not to be messed with. Dorian doesn't correct her (because he plotted for her to believe this in the first place) and sends her with Kiyo as back up to retrieve the crown. The crowns true powers give the owner the ability to sever the tie of the king/queen with their land, and if strong enough to take over. Eugenie retrieves the crown in hopes that the Rowan Queen will be so scared she will call a truce. She does, but only long enough to lull Eugenie into a false sense of security, then kidnaps her sister. In the end Eugenie is forced to use the crown to retrieve her sister, and takes over as Rowan Queen. She now has two places to rule, and isn't happy about that. The book ends with twins, a boy and a girl.. I won't spoil it more by telling you who is pregnant, but it's going to get interesting!
