Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.

I just… couldn’t anymore. Isolde is so unbelievably aggravating in this one, downright abusive at times. I continually tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, right up until she literally slapped and stabbed Adrian for just doing his best for her and their kingdom. and then they were immediately horny yet again.
The plot, lore, and world building was interesting, but completely shrouded by these insufferable characters and relationships. I am disappointed. There is so much potential beneath it all, and after such a great first book I had high expectations.
Lower your expectations and perhaps you’ll enjoy the sequel. However, I can’t get past it anymore. When the third book comes out if it looks like things are looking up, I’ll likely pick this one up again and grit my teeth to see it through.
For now… I’ll see myself out.
