An excellent read, with the release of new shows, and the novel continuity about to become non canon compatible in significant ways, we need some kind of climax. This book is clearly working towards that, setting up a finale.
This is all done in the B plot, which is the more interesting plot in my opinion because its consequences reach a lot further. That is not to say that the A plot is not interesting, The Enterprise finds a massive ship seemingly abandoned, except for some really eager salvage hunters. Turns out there is a lot more to the situation, as usual.
This could very well be the last adventure for characters that I have come to love, like T'Ryssa Chen who truly shines in this story. I will love the new shows, but part of me will mourn the discontinuation of this fantastic universe the novels created.
