The Killer Angels
by Michael Shaara
good war books get to me, and this was no exception. As much as I hate how much I sympathize with Confederate generals (moved to near tears twice, both from the Confederate side. sad), it’s impossible not to; Shaara humanizes the soldiers as effectively as I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t quite hit the highs of Matterhorn, nor does it approach the perfection that is All Quiet on the Western Front, but it is worthy and effective. A fantastic book. 7.5
