“These people are the air I breathe and the blood I bleed. They are my courage. I will not let them down.”

I'm so sorry to whose of you, who have liked the Black Key, but I ... was just disappointed with this one. Maybe it just wasn't cup of tea and I hope you can respect my opinion ^^'

Don't get me wrong: the idea of this ... dystopian and paranormal wasn't bad. This series had so much potential, but well :(

One of my problems was that the Black Key was too rushed. I started reading this book only yesterday and today in the morning I have already finished 60% of the book. Sadly, my thoughts were "only round about 100 pages left I'm bored". The book only focused on Violet. I know she's the main narrator, but I think this book could have been better with more POVs, like e.g Raven or Ash, showing different places planing the revolution. Only following Violet's "adventures" in the house of the Duchess of the Lake wasn't enough for me.
Raven should get her own book. For me, she is the strongest character with a beautiful and fun personality. I would totally love it, if she gets her own book.

Another problem I had was Violet. I don't expect perfect heroines in YA. I expect strong characters, with weaknesses and fears, but still strong. Violet has her weaknesses, her fears and is still strong, yes. However, she is too stupid. I'm not a huge fan of Ash or the romance, but how she treated him this book was beyond my imaginaging. While they fought, I was sooo rooting for Ash to show her how damn wrong she is. Like she is the only who can fight, because she has that powers. Ugh.
Further, does Violet even think about the consequences for once? There such a particular stupid moment, where I just thought "Why?".

Like the rest of the book, the ending was too rushed and flat. Further, the ending felt more like an open-ending and I was left with more questions in my head than before.
