Read and studied for Classical Civilisation A-level.
Truly a wonderful story. It was a privilege to be taught this piece of literature. It has only furthered my comprehension of novels throughout my life after reading it. Book 16 tore my heart out and I still haven't recovered (I was 17 when I read this).
The narrative was astoundingly addictive and moved at a rapid pace. It's very difficult to say something original about arguably the first piece of western literature but from its first few lines of action in media res to the last whisper of conversation about Hector's body, the epic encapsulates everything that became so significant about western epic literature.
All in all, a joy of an epic to explore.
