A new to me author with this psychological thriller.

I had the audiobook read by Frazier Blaxland who has a good voice for  Joey.

My heart went out to Joey and the predicament he gets himself into. He takes on too much responsibility looking after his siblings and his mother as she struggles with bereavement of her husband and her poor health. He leaves school instead of going to college in order  to help out with the family finances but things are  spiralling out of his control.
It’s so easy to see how it all evolved, he is a good caring person, and I felt myself careering towards the car crash as a passenger with him.

The characters are well crafted to really get you rooting for Joey. It’s got a good pace with some twists. It’s easy enjoyable entertaining listening.
