When the terrifying North Wind, god and Frost King arrives to select his newest wife, Wren knows she must protect her twin and so trades paces with her, when chosen. Feisty, stubborn and determined, Wren will not bow to the ice-hearted king.
I struggled to like Wren in the beginning, she was super aggressive, relied on wine to dampen her emotions and was borderline obsessed with putting her twin on a pedestal because of a facial scar and perceived expectations left by deceased parents. She thawed as much as her Frost King in time for a HEA, demonstrating solid character change.
This was a fast paced read, if a little predictable. I enjoyed that Wren's alcoholism was addressed and dealt with throughout. I would have liked to see mention of her recovery and difficulties in the epilogue, rather than just the happy families trope.
I liked that the Frost King sacrificed everything for her and it wasn't miraculously handed back to him once they'd declared their love for one another.
