Control Point
by Myke Cole
I like it. There are a few things I'm "Hmmm" about and compared to "Gemini Cell" you can see how much Myke Cole improved as a writer ("Gemini Cell" being better since it's been written later), but I like it.
I really love the idea behind everything - that magic came back to the world and that people may manifest different powers. I also like the idea of the "Source" world a lot and am curious how everything will play out.
The very best thing? The action scenes. I've been on the edge of my seat during them and have been cheering Oscar on and hurt when he hurt.
It's sad to see how the people who manifests are treated, but looking at our world? Yeah, that would be reality. Sadly.
I really like Oscar even though he's been a bit too naive for me at times. He's military. His job has been to deal with selfers. He is an intelligent man who should know about history. And then he's surprised what the SOC does and how they use people like him or Marty? Yeah, that's my biggest "Hmmm" with this story.
I'm also very curious how it came from the magic from "Gemini Cell" to the magic as it is here, years after "Gemini Cell". I'll guess, I'll find out either in the sequels to this book or the ones of "Gemini Cell". :)
All in all, I enjoyed it and I'm going to read the sequels. :)
