A Wilder Rose by Susan Wittig Albert
5.0

I enjoyed this book. I have never read any of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books nor have I seen the TV series based on them so I know very little about her. This book is about Laura's daughter Rose Wilder Lane who was actually a renown author in her own right. It has since come to light that Rose ghost wrote her mother's books because Laura, while a good story teller and having a good memory of the past, was not a good writer. Laura wrote her books out in long hand in school composition books, then Rose spent weeks and even months editing and rewriting. She wanted her mother to get all the credit mainly so none of the royalties earned would have to be shared with Rose. She also wanted her mother to feel good about herself. This book covers primarily the years between the 1929 stock market crash and 1940.
