The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

5.0

World building - amazing
The protagonist - frustrating

Margaret Atwood is one of my favourite authors, her work is uh-mazing; but at times she creates a world so frustrating, and a protagonist so challenging to like! The book is not the same as the TV series so I'd say enter at your own risk if you've seen the show and think you'll get the same gutsy rebellious woman making her way though the world. Loved the book, but I missed that bit of fire in the gut, the challenge in the pits of her eyes - I needed something to aid in the misery that is the world that Margaret takes the reader to. I needed a way out, and it was hard to see one. The sequal, the Testaments, did little to release the twisted knot that was created by this book. Albeit it, it is a book that needs to be read.
