The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris

3.0

I'm so conflicted about this book. I hated the pacing, I loved the twist ending. It was definitely a really quick read. It pulled me in even though I felt like I was still at the beginning of the novel for about 80% of it. That, however, the pacing, really did throw me off. Everything happened right at the end, and the hints of that ending we got earlier on in the book didn't make that much sense where they were placed.

The ending really got me. It makes perfect sense for Nella's character, but it was still something I didn't expect, so I enjoyed it. I like when authors aren't scared to make moves that aren't popular narrative strategies or pathways, so it was refreshing.
