The Deception by K.A. Applegate

3.0

The war is in full swing in this one. Visser Two finally makes an appearance; he's a bit underwhelming but also brutal and ruthless in a way that makes Visser Three look a little like a comical villain. The Andalites are arrogant as always, and decide that Earth is not a major concern, despite the fact that the top three Vissers were all there up until very recently. Jake issues an order that acquiring human morphs without permission were okay now, considering the circumstances, but Ax can see how all this is weighing on the Animorphs. He still feels like an outsider, or rather is trying to convince himself of it so he can carry the burden of making particular decisions. This ends with Ax making a very dark threat to stop Visser Two, one that he can't go back from, because deep down he knows he would've carried it out if he had to. I'm interested to see how this will alter team dynamics in the next few books, because despite their shock, there are some members who have come to terms with the actions they believe they must take.
